Coronavirus test: Staff working in Care Homes and Residential Homes/settings

Care Homes, Residential Homes and other NHS care providers are considered to be a key worker and are eligible to be tested, providing certain criteria apply.

If a member of staff or a member of their household (over the age of five) display signs or symptoms of COVID-19 they should apply for a test.

Ideally, a test should be requested on the first day of experiencing symptoms, but please note, the test cannot be completed after 5 days of having symptoms.

With effect from 5 October 2020, the process of requesting a test has been amended and is as follows.

If you, or a member of your household (over the age of five) develops symptoms, they should try to request via the government testing site.

If you are unable to access a test this way, you can request a test through this limited, local offer by completing the online webform. A review of the request will be done by Doncaster Council Public Health staff, and if appropriate a test will be arranged. The individual will be informed of the outcome of the request within 24 hours.

The test will be undertaken by an NHS Doncaster CCG clinical member of staff who has the relevant training and experience to undertake the swab. NHS Doncaster CCG will arrange for the swab to be taken to the lab and processed at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. A result should be received within 72 hours.

Please note this is an in hours service; it does not currently operate over the weekend or on a bank holiday and in those circumstances access to a test is via the government testing site.
