Coronavirus test: Family member of a key worker/NHS member of staff

Nationally, there is a criteria that needs to be followed for key worker and family members who need testing as follows:

Self-isolating because a person in their household is symptomatic, but the key worker is not

In this instance, the household member of the key worker (adults and children aged 5 and over) are eligible to go to a test centre to have a test for COVID-19; they can have their test at a site which is booked via the national Coronavirus booking system.

If you are unable to access a test this way, you can request a test through this limited, local offer by completing the online webform. A review of the request will be done by Doncaster Council Public Health staff, and if appropriate a test will be arranged. The individual will be informed of the outcome of the request within 24 hours.

The test will be undertaken by an NHS Doncaster CCG clinical member of staff who has the relevant training and experience to undertake the swab. NHS Doncaster CCG will arrange for the swab to be taken to the lab and processed at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. A result should be received within 72 hours.

Please note this is an in hours service; it does not currently operate over the weekend or on a bank holiday and in those circumstances access to a test is via the government testing site.

Self-isolating for other reasons

If the key worker is self-isolating for other reasons and is not symptomatic, they are not eligible to be tested.
