Tour de Yorkshire

tdy-fridge-magnetThe borough will play host to the inaugural women’s race, as well as the thrilling finish to Stage Two of the Men’s race.

This year, the women’s race will take place on the same course and distance as the men’s, and feature some of the most elite cyclists the sport has to offer.

The Tour de Yorkshire route, which will snake through Doncaster for around 50 miles, takes in some of the biggest landmarks in Doncaster, starting in the west of the borough in beautiful Hooton Pagnell and ending on Bennetthorpe in Doncaster town centre.

The Tour de Yorkshire will take place between Friday 29 April – Sunday 1 May 2016.  The first Tour de Yorkshire was held in May 2015, and attracted one and a half million spectators cheering on riders from some of the world’s top teams, with over six million global television viewers.

Doncaster is set to play host alongside the other selected towns – Beverley, Otley, Scarborough, Settle and Middlesbrough.
