Talking Points: Is Doncaster Carer Friendly?

TPTHumbEvery day about 33,000 people in Doncaster give their time to help others stay well and independent by being their carer.

It’s Carer Rights Day on Friday 25 November, 2016 and Doncaster Council, NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and partners are using the event to highlight how important caring is and how we are all working together to build Carer Friendly Communities in Doncaster.

Carer Friendly Communities are places where local people and services support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that carers are individuals with needs of their own.

Doncaster Carers Service, Age UK Doncaster in June 2016 launched a virtual Doncaster Carers Friendly Community Map and asked all contacts in health and social care to commit or aim to commit to one of five statements to show their support for carers. This map has won Doncaster Carers Service the Free Press Carer of the year award 2016.
    This is an easy way for service providers to show their support to carers living in Doncaster. The map can be viewed on our website
