Integrated Care Systems may become statutory bodies

Legislation is being considered to put Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) on a statutory footing. If the legislation is passed before April 2021, it is anticipated that ICSs will be put on a statutory basis from April 2022 and it is therefore likely that 2021-22 will be a transition year. There will be a consultation on any changes in the coming weeks. You can read the paper which was recently considered by the NHSE/I Board and find out how to feedback your views here

Proposals seek to strengthen partnership working at place and system level and propose replacing current  provider competition rules amongst other important planned changes.  This is very much in line with the direction of travel of our place based arrangements and ICS.

This will have implications for CCGs but we can welcome the strong emphasis on tackling health inequalities and on the importance of place based working.  Opportunities for discussion will be provided alongside the consultation period.

Governing Bodies across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw will also be discussing these proposals in depth in December.
