Getting the COVID-19 vaccine: A personal experience guide for people with severe mental illness

Kevin James is the Chair of the Equally Well UK Expert by Experience Group. He has over 25 years of experience in both using physical and mental health services as well as working with commissioners, the VCSE sector, and NHS foundation trusts.

This is one of a series of three explainer videos on COVID-19 vaccination, for people who experience Severe Mental Illness (SMI) and primary care professionals working with people with SMI. This short video explains what people with SMI can expect from the vaccination process. It contains helpful guidance on how to prepare for your appointment and what to expect.

Public Health England have a suite of COVID-19 explainer videos to answer some of the frequently asked questions about the types of vaccines, eligibility, safety, at-risk groups, rollout, intervals, common side effects, importance of two doses and who needs the vaccine.
