The free pioneering adult fitness course based at Keepmoat Stadium is welcoming new members with local practices able to refer direct online.
New for 2020, the course is now a 12 week fitness programme (previously 8 weeks) which is conducted throughout the year offering classroom based health education sessions and physical workouts to work towards a healthier lifestyle.
The course has recently received more funding which has increased participant capacity and Fit Rovers would like to welcome local health professionals to refer directly into the programme.
There is no criteria other than men must be aged over 30 and women over 23.
People who could greatly benefit from the programme include individuals who:
- are struggling with their weight
- feel socially isolated and would like to socialise
- live with low level mental health issues
- could benefit from nutritional and wellbeing advise
- would like to be more active
You may have seen the Fit Rovers team at Target meetings recently where they attended to speak to and promote the programme.
The course has had some incredible success stories with members not only reporting weight losses and increased physical wellbeing but also positive impacts on mental health.
For more information and to refer into the programme, whilst with a patient simply visit this page of the Fit Rovers website and click on ‘ENQUIRE’. A box will appear where you can fill in the patient’s contact details and write in the message ‘(insert name of local practice) referral for Fit Rovers’.
The team will then contact the patient direct to give them more information and answer any questions.
Leaflets can also be shared with local practices if health professionals feel some patients may wish to be given information and self-refer in their own time. If you would like some leaflets please email firstname.lastname@example.org
