Did you know about the ‘More Choice, more appointments’ service in Doncaster? Led by an organisation called Primary Care Doncaster, this service, previously known as Extended Access provides 160 extra hours of GP and nurse appointments per week at times we know many people struggle to book.
The ‘More choice, more appointments’ service operates at five locations across Doncaster and is available for anyone to access and use.
If you call your local practice and they don’t have an appointment at a time to suit you, ask the reception staff about these additional appointments that are available to everyone. The staff will let you know of a number of appointments available early morning, late evening and at weekends. This probably won’t be with your usual practice but it does mean you can see a GP or nurse to discuss your health and care needs.
The ‘More choice, more appointments’ service is helping to reduce waiting times for appointments and puts you in control. There are extra appointments available for you to see a GP or nurse on a Saturday. If you work or you can’t access your GP or nurse during working hours, this is ideal.
The service not only provides more appointments, but provides different types of appointment so you can see the most appropriate health care professional.
If you are suffering with back, muscle or joint pain, you can also make an appointment to see a First2Physio clinician who will review your pain and signpost you to the most appropriate service within a couple of days, if not sooner.
Ask your local practice for more information about the service. And if you can’t get an appointment at your local practice, there may be an appointment with another GP or nurse at another location in Doncaster – just ask!
