Mexborough Minor Injuries Unit has become an Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) for patients with same day minor injuries and illnesses.
What does this mean?
The service continues to treat a wide range of minor injuries including, minor burns and scalds, infected wounds, sprains, cuts and grazes.
Additionally, the centre can now see patients with minor illnesses which require urgent same day treatment and who are unable to be seen at their own local practice, the Same Day Health Centre or use the More Choice, More Appointments service. Patients should be encouraged to use the 111 service in the first instance.
The centre can also examine and treat minor injuries to the eye, ear and arrange X-rays for possible broken bones.

- Simple fractures
- Wound infections
- Minor burns and scalds
- Minor eye injuries
- Foreign bodies in eyes and ears
- Simple head wounds
- Insect and animal bites.
How are patients seen at the UTC?
All patients will be triaged on arrival at the centre and directed to the most appropriate service. Please be aware, patients presenting with non-urgent or same day medical needs may be redirected to alternative health services or be given self-care advice if their symptoms are not urgent.
