Your GP is responsible for providing care to you during normal working hours, that is Monday to Friday 8.00am to 6.30pm (this may differ during bank and public holidays).
Outside normal surgery hours you can still phone your GP surgery, but you’ll usually be directed to an out-of-hours service. The out-of-hours period is from 6.30pm to 8.00am on weekdays and all day at weekends and on bank holidays.
You can use the service during these times if you feel unwell or are worried that you may need urgent medical care that cannot wait until your GP surgery is next open.
GP Out-of-Hours Service provide health care for urgent medical problems outside normal surgery hours. This service is available for urgent medical situations but not for emergencies.
You can contact the out-of-hours service on 0300 123 9990. The service is at the Urgent Care Centre at Doncaster Royal Infirmary (within the A&E).
If you have a medical emergency, a critical or life threatening problem you should call 999 or visit your Doncaster’s Emergency Department (A&E), day or night.
If you have an open wound which may need stitching/dressing, you should go direct to your nearest Emergency (A&E) Department or Minor Injury Unit (MIU), or if it is an emergency call 999.
