A NEW first-of-its kind website for Doncaster’s GPs is set to be just what the doctor prescribed.
GPfind is an electronic encyclopaedia of healthcare, designed to give GPs and other clinicians based at local surgeries fast access to a wealth of information when they are seeing patients.
It includes referral forms to hospital consultants, contact details for local health services, and details of the ‘pathways’ of care patients are put on according to their medical condition.
The site can be reached by doctors and other clinicians based at the borough’s 43 GP practices using a special NHS data system called N3, which cannot be accessed by the general public.
Dr Khaimraj Singh, a GP at The Rossington Practice – pictured – said: “It benefits patients and doctors by speeding up appointments because all the information I need for making a referral to hospital, or giving information to a patient about their treatment plan, is all on one website for the first time.
“More information is being added all the time, which is making it a really valuable resource for doctors like me.”
Designed and maintained by Chris Empson, an IT expert at NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), GPfind was created following requests from local GPs who wanted at their fingertips a central repository of forms and other pieces of information they used regularly in consultations with patients.
Chris said: “This is very much an on-going development and more information will be added to the site as it becomes available in the future. We have also added a suggestion box so GPs and their colleagues can tell us what additional material they would like to see uploaded.”
