The annual Doncaster General Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant awards are back and open for nominations.
And this year, we’re keen to recognise the fantastic work and care provided by all other practice staff so an additional award has been added; our Doncaster Pride of Primary Care award.
In Doncaster, our nurses and health care assistants working in local practices are an essential and valuable part of the primary care team. They plan and provide nursing care, treatment and health education to patients of all ages.
There are six individual categories recognising the vital contribution that practice nurses, health care assistants and practice teams make to general practice.
The judges are seeking nominations from general practitioners, practice managers, nurses and health care assistants in general practice, administration staff, patients and wider NHS staff.
This years categories are:
Recognising Leadership in Primary care (GPN)
This award acknowledges leadership and inspiration in primary care, recognising creativity and innovation within the GPN role. Nominees will be seen as an aspirational role model, motivating and challenging, forward thinking and progressive, influencing change in primary care.
Recognising support and mentorship (GPN)
This award endorses nominees who have shown support and nurturing of new to practice or nursing students; including embracing new roles and new team members to ensure individuals receive a variable, safe, encouraging and exciting learning experience.
Commitment to General Practice Nursing (GPN)
This award recognises a general practice nurse who is passionate about their role, champions and promotes general practice; clearly enjoys their job and the positive impact they have on their colleagues and patients.
Recognising Compassionate and Caring Practice Team (team)
This award appreciates supportive practice teams, those practices who promote and demonstrate an inclusive approach, genuinely and visibly valuing all staff members. Having a shared ethos of providing high quality care whilst maintaining a positive staff well-being.
Rising Star (GPN)
This award recognises the inspiring contribution a nurse new to primary care (within the last two years) has demonstrated through an enthusiastic approach to improving patient outcomes and the practice nurse role.
Inspirational Health Care Assistant (Health Care Assistant)
This award values the contribution HCAs make in practice, the nominee will be proud to be a HCA, an active member of the practice team who strives for quality and is respected by both patients and staff.
Doncaster Pride of Primary Care Awards (ALL practice staff)
Is there a member of staff in your practice who always goes above and beyond, someone who you feel is the pride of your practice? New for 2020, the Doncaster Pride of Primary Care Award is open for anyone working in a local practice in Doncaster regardless of role. This could be a GP, pharmacist, receptionist, practice cleaning staff, secretary, note summariser, care navigator or any of the numerous other important roles that contribute to the primary care family.
