Big boost for Macmillan Cancer Support

Colleagues at Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) baked, donated, bought raffle tickets and chanced their luck for a tombola win in support of the world’s biggest coffee morning.

Their team spirit and collective efforts raised a whopping £452 for Macmillan Cancer Support which will be making its way to provide vital services for people living with cancer.

Dr David Crichton, local GP and Clinical Chair of Doncaster CCG said: “It was fantastic to see how our staff pulled together to help raise this significant amount of cash for such an important cause.

“As a GP, I know how important support services such as Macmillan are for people living with cancer, as well as their families and carers. I am sure the money raised will go some way to helping people at their time of need.”

A number of programmes and projects are taking place in Doncaster to help detect cancer earlier and improve outcomes for patients.

Earlier this year, we launched a one stop prostate pathway which has helped to detect prostate cancer earlier and speed up the treatment pathway for many patients. We will continue to review and evaluate our services to ensure they are providing the best possible care and outcomes for people in Doncaster.

One of the latest schemes in the pipeline is the Targeted Lung Health Check scheme announced earlier this year, set to detect cancer earlier and identify other health conditions such as asthma and COPD.

The Lung Health Check scheme will be rolled out for eligible patients early 2020.
